We offer training for Border Collies for farm work or USBCHA type trialing for those just starting out or those already actively trialing at the various levels. We have good sheep, not your typical "farm flock," with space to set for long outruns. Training can include boarding the dog for a given period of time if needed. We are available most weekends and some weekdays for private or small group lessons.
Occasionally started Border Collies will be available for farm work or trialing.
Border Collie puppies are available on a limited basis as there may only be one litter every few years. The parents of any litter will have health clearances with Penn Hip and DNA for "Collie Eye Abnomally." They will bred for workability first and trialing second. Puppies are registered with the ABCA. Preference will be given to working or trialing homes. We hope to have a litter at the end of 2010 so check back for more details. Please email for details.
Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppies are also available on a limited basis. Parents are OFA'd and Eye Cerf'd prior to any breeding with temperment always in mind. Puppies can be registered with the AKC or CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) and sold on limited registration unless sold to a show home. Preference will be given to performance based homes (obedience, herding, agility, etc.) For more information on our current litter, please see Hoedwig Kennels.

Open will run Saturday and Sunday. Pro-novice (Nursery?) for two back to back trials on Monday. Sheep are a crossbreed. Payouts to the top 4 runs for each day in Open and to the top 3 combined scores in Pro-novice. Camping is available but we do ask you notify us in advance so we can plan space accordingly. Don Helsley will be offering private lessons all day Tuesday and half the day Wednesday following the trial. Trialers are welcome to say over till the Lacamas Valley Sheep Dog Trial in Camas, WA. Entry forms and lesson waiver to be added later.
The public are more than welcome to attend any trial and people will be available to answer questions and explain how the trial works. We do ask that you not bring your dogs unless they are entered in the trial.
We raise crossbred sheep comprised of Clun Forest, North Country and Shropshire. We take pride in our sheep flock with lambing starting the end of March. Last year we bred our ewes a beautiful Shropshire ram and this brought about larger, healthier lambs. We will be repeating this for our 2010 lamb crop as well as bringing in a North Country ram to half the flock. We welcome inquiries for ram lambs for those wanting to add carcus weight to their own lambs.
Our sheep are raised on pasture grass with no hormone additives and antibiotics given only when needed. The lambs are between 60 and 100 pounds at time of sale with 45% being carcuss weight (packaged meat). Lambs will be available for sale in late August at $125/head. We can reserve lambs if they are paid for in full.
